About The Event

NOTE: Workshop is for 2 days 10th & 11th. Register only for 10th August, to be considered for 2 days

Instead of following a technical model, this workshop is going to focus on the Aesthetic and Emotional contributions of lighting. To explore the idea of using light as a potent form of expression, moulding the narrative of a performance.

Lighting can affect our mood just as music does. It gently tends to coax us to respond to an image emotionally. This workshop is for all performative artists who want to understand the effects of lighting in a performance. An enquiry into how we look at light around us- as a medium, as a form of expression, as a sculpting material and as a stirrer of perceptions. It is to understand the nature of different elements of light like direction, colour and intensity which affect the mood of a scene in a performance. An exercise in directing our attention to the everyday life and glean images which are enhanced by lighting and observing its effects on us emotionally and intellectually. And to initiate a process, within the participants for the workshop, to use this knowledge/experience to enrich their performative expression.

Participants will take back the following-

Basic understanding of the nature of light and how it affects us emotionally.

Hands-on experience in using various Lighting fixtures and Control systems.

Basic concepts of Practical Aspects: focussing, rigging, Making lighting plan.

Controllable qualities of lighting : like color, intensity, distribution, movement.

Skills and Capability: to talk to your technician telling him in technical terms what would u like.
