About The Event

Step into the serene world of Japanese tradition with our Japanese Tea Ceremony Workshop at Hayakawa Japanese Language School & Cultural Center, Chennai.

This unique session offers a rare opportunity to experience the timeless ritual of Chanoyu (茶の湯), the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, guided by trained practitioners. Rooted in centuries of history, the tea ceremony is not just about drinking tea — it is a beautiful expression of mindfulness, respect, harmony, and inner calm.

During the workshop, participants will:

- Discover the philosophy, etiquette, and symbolism behind the Japanese tea ceremony.

- Witness a live demonstration of the Omotesenke school style of tea ceremony.

- Learn the basic guest etiquette: how to bow, how to handle the tea bowl, and how to appreciate the setting.

- Experience the authentic taste of Matcha (ceremonial-grade powdered green tea) paired with traditional Japanese sweets.

- Participate in a hands-on session, practicing key movements under guidance.

Key Highlights:

- Authentic setup with utensils imported from Japan.

- Insight into Japanese hospitality, aesthetics, and cultural values.

- Interaction with trained tea practitioners.

- A limited batch of only 10 participants to ensure an intimate and immersive experience.
