About The Event
Catch Jelle Roozenburg and Tarang Poddar as guitar, tabla and percussion collide in a shape-shifting rush of grooves, odd metres, and unexpected sounds.
What happens when the rhythmic complexity of jazz and African music meets the discipline of Indian classical percussion? Dutch guitarist Jelle Roozenburg and Indian tabla artist Tarang Poddar explore that meeting point through intricate, groove-led instrumental music that remains immediate and engaging.
Roozenburg uses electric guitar and live processing to layer melodic fragments, looping textures, and contemporary harmonies, moving fluidly between acoustic and electronic soundscapes. Poddar brings together tabla and percussion in a hybrid setup, drawing from Indian classical music while pushing the instrument into unexpected territory through polyrhythms, shifting metres, and rhythmic interplay.
Jelle X Tarang have developed a distinctive repertoire where repetition, silence, and sudden shifts continually reshape the music. Precise yet unpredictable, their performances blur the boundaries between contemporary jazz, fusion, and experimental music, driven by the infectious energy of two musicians responding instinctively to one another in real time.
