The Nayika and Nayika Bhaav are integral to Indian classical music. Traditionally, the Nayika is depicted as a woman in love, whose world revolves around her beloved. And there is beauty in that.
But is the Nayika of today still defined solely by her lover?
The Nayika of today is so much more. She is a believer, a dreamer, a builder, an artist and the art itself. She is a woman who creates, questions, desires, discovers, and defines her own world. She is all of this, and so much more.
Kahat Nayika is an immersive concert experience that brings this contemporary Nayika to life through the grandeur of Indian classical music. It is a celebration of the woman she is today, and of the centuries of transformation that have shaped her journey.
Featuring original bandishes composed by Nirali Kartik, the concert brings together a talented ensemble of artists to explore the many shades, stories, and expressions of the modern Nayika.
