The Legendary Kapoors
Four generations of legendary superstars! There is no family like the Kapoors. Prithviraj Kapoor laid the foundation, and Raj Kapoor was the man who catapulted the family's success through the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Prithviraj Kapoor founded Prithvi Theatre in 1942, which staged productions across India.
Raj Kapoor went on to establish the Kapoor family's film production company - RK Films, which produced 21 films. Among them, two won National Awards for Best Feature Film and three won Filmfare Awards for Best Feature Film.
Shashi Kapoor, the youngest of the siblings, started acting at the tender age of 10 and continued until 1998.
On the other hand, Shammi Kapoor started his career late and had no successful films for four years until 1957. His dancing numbers in films from the 1950s to the early 1970s earned him the nickname of the Elvis Presley of India.
Raj Kapoor's sons, Rishi Kapoor, and Randhir Kapoor, ruled the roost until the '80s. Rishi Kapoor made his debut as an adolescent in his father's film, for which he won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist. Rishi Kapoor's career spanned 50 years, and he received several National and Filmfare awards.
The Kapoor Khandaan has been prominent in movies for almost nine decades, delivering hit films, music, and songs that have captivated audiences around the world. They truly are the first family of Indian cinema.
