About The Event

Set against a social media-driven world, actor and Kathak virtuoso Vaidehi Parashurami brings movement, music and theatre together to explore what remains meaningful in a world increasingly lived through screens.

In the electrifying dance-musical production ‘Kathateet’, Vaidehi Parashurami brings the precision of Kathak into a dynamic dialogue with Indian and Western forms, folk and classical idioms, and traditional and contemporary sounds.

At its heart is a meditation on relationships that extend beyond blood ties, from the bond between guru and disciple to friendship and romance, and our connection with the natural world. Here, music becomes the thread that connects these different worlds, carrying the narrative across shifting rhythms, moods and forms.

Traditional instruments like tabla, flute and harmonium find a fresh rhythm alongside drums, guitar and keyboards, while nuanced vocals, live instrumentation and evocative visuals build a richly layered theatrical language. With live music functioning almost as a character in its own right, ‘Kathateet’ moves beyond genre boundaries to explore how different artistic traditions can speak to one another.

Vaidehi is joined by vocalist Sanhita Chandorkar, tabla artist Amol Mali, percussionist Sajiri Deshpande, drummer Nikhil Sugwekar, actors Dr Suyog Gorhe and Pushkaraj Chirputkar, and a talented ensemble of accompanying musicians. The production is managed by Wide Wings Media.

This performance is supported by Reliance Foundation.
