For this edition we have invited 90 artists from more than 25 countries, with over 45 new commissions. Showcased in the central exhibition at Aspinwall House, Pepper House, and Anand Warehouse, the curator envisions this edition of the Biennale as “embodying the joy of experiencing practices of divergent sensibilities, under conditions both joyful and grim...
And that perhaps all that is required for an impossible ideal to exist is for enough people to live, think, and work as if it already does.” Alongside the Biennale, we have multiple collateral exhibitions with artworks spread across 13 venues in Fort Kochi, Mattancherry and Ernakulam. Besides the central exhibition, we will be conducting a range of programmes including seminars, residencies, and talks.
Other flagship programmes that will be conducted include Art by Children (ABC) and Students Biennale, which platforms young art students from over 50 state colleges in India. In addition to these programmes, we are also organising a range of local programmes that include film screenings, regional music and its revival, local crafts, and theater traditions that will take place over the 120 days of the Biennale at Cabral Yard.
