
Witness KM Sufi Ensemble founded by AR Rahman in concert in Bangalore on December 15th. The ensemble will showcase qawwali, a form of Sufi devotional music from the Indian subcontinent that dates back over 700 years. Combining poetry, rhythm, and melody, qawwali conveys themes of divine love and spiritual yearning, guiding listeners toward transcendence and a deep connection with the divine.
The ensemble will perform timeless pieces such as “Khwaja Mere Khwaja,” “Kun Faya Kun,” and “Zikr,” alongside traditional qawwalis like “Man Kunto Maula” and “Dum Mast Qalandar.” Emerging from Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory, the ensemble is dedicated to preserving the essence of Sufi music while adding contemporary depth. Having captivated audiences around the world, the KMMC Sufi Ensemble’s powerful renditions transcend cultural and linguistic boundaries, uniting listeners in a shared experience of spiritual awakening and joy. This concert promises to be a captivating evening, as the ensemble’s voices evoke mystic poetry and divine ecstasy at the heart of Sufi tradition.
The ensemble features Soubhagya Mohapatra, Ishan Rojindar, Yadu Krishnan, Sugandh Shekar, Akshay Chavan, Rahul Prakash, Aditya Bhavsar, Vibhor Grover, Munna Shaokath Ali, Rajesh Dhavle, Hemang Purohit, Chintan Trivedi, Gowtham Ayyappan, Vikram D, and Vinay Verma.
