LIORA: Candle Making for Mental Well Being
Hey you!
When was the last time you actually slowed down?
Made something with your hands, paid attention to what you were feeling, talked to people you did not already know, and allowed yourself to simply enjoy being there?
That is exactly why we created LIORA.
What is LIORA?
LIORA is a warm, unhurried afternoon where the art of candle making meets the practice of mindfulness.
For a couple of hours, we invite you to step away from the rush of everyday life and come back to yourself.
We will slow down.
We will work with our hands.
We will notice our senses.
We will make something beautiful.
And we will make space for a little reflection along the way.
Because sometimes, taking care of yourself does not have to mean doing more. Sometimes, it can simply mean pausing long enough to notice that you are here.
What to expect
- Mindfulness and Body Scan
We will begin with simple, guided practices to help you slow down, notice your body and become more present in the moment. Nothing complicated. No meditation experience needed.
- Candle Making
We will take you through the process of candle making step by step. You will get to choose your fragrance, work with the materials and pour your very own scented candle.
- A Sensory Experience
We will use the process of candle making to reconnect with our senses. The fragrance, the texture, the warmth and the process itself become little anchors to bring us back to the present.
- Reflection and Connection
While our candles set, we will make space for a gentle conversation and reflection. Not a therapy session. Not forced sharing. Just an opportunity to slow down, connect and have the kind of conversations we do not always make time for.
What is included
-A guided mindfulness and body scan experience
-Your own hand poured scented candle
-All candle making materials
Beverages
-A few hours to pause, create and reconnect
Your Hosts
Dinky Tejwani
Dinky is a counselling psychologist and special educator based in Bangalore. Her work brings together psychology, emotional awareness and creative, everyday practices that make mental well being feel more accessible. She loves creating spaces where people can slow down, feel safe and connect with themselves without the pressure to have everything figured out.
Tanishqa
Tanishqa is a psychotherapist and researcher at Gargi College, Delhi University. A recipient of the Fortis Bharat Panchal Award for Excellence in Psychological Research, her work focuses on emotions and subjective well being within the Indian cultural context. She also brings her love for candle making and creating sensory experiences into LIORA.
Together, we are bringing psychology and candle making into the same room to create an afternoon that feels less like another thing on your to do list and more like something you did just for yourself.
We are not promising a life changing afternoon. But we would love for you to leave feeling a little more present, a little more connected, and with something beautiful that you made yourself.
Seats are limited to keep the experience small and intentional.
Come alone. Bring a friend. Meet someone new.
You do not need to know anything about candle making or mindfulness.
Just come as you are.
See you at LIORA!
