About The Event
Bengaluru-based Bharatanatyam artist and actor Shreema Upadhyaya explores Lord Krishna’s enduring hold over the heart through movement, rhythm and expression.
Lord Krishna’s divine charm has inspired devotion across centuries, evoking love, longing, surrender and joy in those who seek him. Through Bharatanatyam, ‘Manamohana’ explores the bond between the divine and the devotee, reflecting on a deity whose beauty transcends form, whose music lingers beyond sound, and whose grace draws the seeker towards inner awakening.
Each piece brings a different facet of Krishna into focus, tracing the many moods and emotions that surround his presence. Together, they unfold the meaning of manamohana – the one who enchants the mind, stirs the soul and leads the seeker closer to the divine.
The work is performed by acclaimed Bharatanatyam artist and actor Shreema Upadhyaya, who has trained under renowned dancer and choreographer P. Praveen Kumar for over two decades. Known for her technical precision, rhythmic command and expressive depth, she has presented her Guru’s choreographies alongside her own works at leading venues including The Music Academy, Madras, and Narada Gana Sabha. Named Best Dancer at The Music Academy’s HCL Concert Series in 2023, Shreema has also worked with Padma Shri Malavika Sarukkai on Thari: The Loom and currently performs with the Akram Khan Company in Thikra: A Night of Remembrance.
