Design, build and perform with your own wearable mask in this hands-on workshop with puppeteer Mohd. Shameem, exploring how shape, scale, and movement can bring a character to life.
In this hands-on Mask Making Workshop, participants will design and construct their own wearable masks, experimenting with shape, exaggeration, asymmetry, and scale.
Guided by renowned puppeteer and puppet designer Mohd. Shameem, the workshop moves beyond craft, inviting participants to explore how masks transform movement, posture, and character through group exercises and improvisations.
The session is designed to build both creative and performance skills, helping participants understand the unique logic of masks in theatre and develop the basics of mask construction. Shameem, founder of Puppetshala Performing Arts and recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, brings years of experience in puppetry, object theatre, and visual storytelling, making this workshop an engaging introduction to the expressive possibilities of mask and puppet theatre.
