About The Event
Mata Ni Pachedi literally translates to "behind the goddess," and that name comes from its original purpose: a sacred textile made to serve as a shrine for worship. Hailing from Gujarat, this art form is all about bold, earthy colours and hand-painted depictions of deities, particularly the Mother Goddess. It is a striking blend of devotion and craftsmanship, and every piece carries centuries of cultural history within it. Sitting down to create Mata Ni Pachedi feels less like a technical exercise and more like a soulful one. You are tracing out divine stories with your own hands, and there is a quiet spiritual pull to that, alongside the pure creative joy of it.
This is not your typical workshop, either. We keep it small and hold it in a home studio, so it feels less like a class and more like sitting down with people who share your interest. You will get real, one-on-one time with the instructor, plenty of room to ask questions, and honestly, it tends to feel less like a "session" and more like spending an afternoon with a small creative family.
