Mehfil-e-Noor is a warm and playful Hindustani shayari & storytelling special of Noor's original as well as classical nazms and ghazals (e.g. of Faiz, Elia). It is part performance and part living-room guftagu. You'll forget you came in as an audience and leave as part of the mehfil
Seema 'Noor' didn't inherit Hindustani poetry, she fell in love with it in the aftermath of heartbreak and loss. It gave her a vocabulary for beauty, resilience and healing that she couldn't find elsewhere. The mehfil is her dili khwaahish (heart's desire) to leave you in awe and delight with the depth of emotion in Urdu, the magical musicality of verse, and the spot-on articulation of the vulnerabilities of human existence. The poems have been carefully curated from Noor's 10+ years of devotion to Urdu, having lived each verse
Gentle English and Hindi translations ensure no one is left behind. The show is light enough for a first date with Hindustani heritage, rich enough to charm a connoisseur.
