About The Event

NalandaWay Chennai Children`s Choir will be performing its newest musical production “ Prayer for Peace” under the theme of “Inclusion”. The performance will bring to life the literary verses and musical renditions of distinguished poets, especially those from the Bhakti Movement. This 90 minute production, featuring 21 talented children and 5 accompanying artists, is a celebration of India’s cultural diversity. Through songs and verses in various Indian languages, we aim to highlight the universal themes of love, oneness, unity, and hope for humanity.

The choir`s mission is not merely to entertain but to inspire, educate, and foster a sense of togetherness among our listeners. We firmly believe that music transcends boundaries, connecting hearts and minds, and fostering understanding among diverse communities. This performance seeks to exemplify these values, showcasing the talent, dedication, and inclusivity that define our choir.

NalandaWay Children’s Choirs started in 2015 to use music as a cohesive force to build children’s expression, and upskill them. Our first cohort, in Chennai, comprises 25 children from Chennai govt schools  who have given almost 50 performances to date. Some of the noted ones include John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, USA for the Serenade Choral Festival in 2018; a collaborative performance with renowned Carnatic vocalist Bombay Jayashri and a special video for `I for India`, India’s biggest ever concert to raise funds for Covid19.
