About The Event
Composer and vocalist Reeshabh Purohit journeys through the nine rasas of human experience, reimagining timeless Marathi compositions through a striking new musical lens.
Love, laughter, wonder, sorrow, anger and everything in between – Navarasa explores the nine emotions that shape the human experience. Composer, producer and vocalist Reeshabh Purohit turns to the rich legacy of Marathi music, drawing on bhavgeet, sugam sangeet, abhang and popular Marathi songs to bring each rasa into focus through music, poetry and storytelling.
Rooted in the emotional depth of these enduring works, the music is reimagined through cinematic soundscapes and expansive arrangements. Each chapter enters a different emotional world, creating a theatrical experience where Marathi music’s poetic and melodic traditions meet Reeshabh’s modern musical imagination.
Trained in the Agra and Gwalior gharanas and a graduate of Berklee College of Music, Reeshabh has worked across Indian classical music and contemporary genres. His collaborations include Ajay-Atul, Vijay Prakash and Maithili Thakur, while his performances have taken him to stages across India, the USA and Canada.
Joined by Nisha Satpute, Jay Suryavanshi, Apurv Dravid, Pushkar Mahajan and Atharva Kulkarni, Reeshabh pays tribute to the composers and lyricists who shaped Marathi music, inviting a new generation to encounter their artistry through the full spectrum of human emotion.
This performance is supported by Reliance Foundation.
