At the heart of this performance is Pandit Naviin Gandharv, a master of the rare Belabaharr - a unique instrument created by his father and guru, Pandit Babulal Gandharv, a Top-Grade artist of All India Radio and its first exponent.
Blending the expressive qualities of the violin, sarangi, and vocal traditions, the Belabaharr produces a soundscape that is both deeply emotive and technically intricate. Through extended raga explorations, Pandit Naviin Gandharv brings this instrument to life with clarity, depth, and precision. An accomplished tabla player as well, he is regarded as a complete artist, weaving melody and rhythm into a language felt beyond words.
The evening continues with the Anuraaj Classical Band, infusing contemporary flavours into classical frameworks and opening the music to younger audiences while keeping it rooted in tradition. This segment features exceptional young musicians from across India, showcasing the breadth and evolving possibilities of Indian music.
