Open Bracket presents 'Sketchbook stories with Allen Shaw'
20 years of Sketchbook, a talk followed by hands on Illustration workshop

A picture is worth a thousand words; and when this picture is of your own making, its worth so much more. To hold a pencil to paper and draw out your thoughts is a way to realize your identity. It is a way to embrace your own unique way of seeing the world- a way to tell stories.

Open Bracket presents 'Sketchbook Stories', a talk followed by hands on illustration workshop with Allen Shaw, where the inspirational artist will talk about his work in illustration, 20 years of maintaining sketchbooks and the general joy that comes with sketching. The interactive event will focus on how to effectively read, and sequentially record, spaces, places, people and stories with nothing but some charcoal, paint and paper. With tips and tricks on creating illustrations that speak, 'sketchbook stories' is sure to delight both the artist and the storyteller in you!

Allen Shaw has been telling stories through his sketches since 1996. He is a Berlin based artist, illustrator and storyteller. Allen graduated from National Institute of Design, Ahmadabad to work in communication design, with a specialization in animation films. An illustrator at heart, Allen has spent 20 years recording his travels, observations, experiences and musings in uncountable sketchbooks, and has frequently exhibited his work in India and abroad. This 20 year celebration of Allen's travel sketchbooks is in collaboration with Kaagazi.
