Discover the lived histories of the Sindhi community through a powerful theatrical work inspired by Saaz Aggarwal's oral history research.
Drawing extensively from Saaz Aggarwal's research into Sindhi oral histories, Pahinjo Kirdaar brings experiences of memory, identity, and belonging to the stage. Through personal narratives spanning Partition, education, language, trade and commerce, and the freedom struggle, the production explores aspects of Sindhi history and culture that have often remained underrepresented. Transforming archival and research-based material into a compelling theatrical experience, the play invites audiences to engage with these stories in an immediate and emotionally resonant way.
Written and directed by Nikhil Katara, the production features an accomplished ensemble cast. Monica Mahendru, a theatre-trained actor whose work has been presented at leading festivals in India and internationally, is joined by Deesh Mariwala, a theatre practitioner whose four-decade career spans more than 150 productions across cultures and performance traditions. The cast also includes Varun Vazir, an actor and speech-and-drama facilitator with credits across theatre, film, television, and advertising, and Barkha Fatnani, an actor and musician recently seen in the lead role in Yugant.
Produced by Saaz Aggarwal, Pahinjo Kirdaar is a moving theatrical exploration of memory, identity, and the enduring legacy of the Sindhi community.
