Purana Gitam: A Musical Journey of Devotion
The Puranas serve as the essential catalysts in the historical transition from the ancient Vedic religion to modern Hinduism. These sacred texts facilitated the rise of Bhakti (devotion), championing it as the primary—and often simplest—path to Moksha (liberation). This pivotal shift towards Puja and Bhakti became the very foundation of modern Hindu practice.
The Theme: Celebrating the Scriptures
This year, Samagana Sabha dedicates its 17th Music festival to the glorification and celebration of these texts through the medium of classical music.
Our saint musicians have composed countless masterpieces pertaining to the glory of deities, Hindu festivals, pilgrimages, planetary movements, and ethical, moral, and spiritual values found within these scriptures. At Purana Gitam, performing artistes will take up assigned Puranas to explore these themes, interpreting the ancient wisdom through their musical expertise.
Featured Artistes: The festival boasts a lineup of leading performing artistes, including: Ranjani-Gayatri, Sandeep Narayan, Harisankar K S, Sivasri Skandaprasad, Apoorva Krishna, Dhanya Rudrapatna and Archana & Samanvi.
