Across film songs, pop anthems, dance-floor favourites, and rock classics, retro music has carried generations of listeners through memory, rhythm, and melody. ‘Rewind’, a cross-continental musical celebration revisits that rich musical legacy through the talents of Hamsika Iyer, an acclaimed playback singer known for songs such as Chammak Challo and Raabta; Merlin D'Souza, a noted pianist, composer, arranger, and music director; and Vivienne Pocha, a singer, actor, and performer whose work spans jazz, blues, theatre, and contemporary music. Together, they bring decades of stage experience and a rich blend of musical influences to the performance.
The evening journeys between the golden era of Indian cinema and the global sounds of the 70s and 80s, revisiting music made famous by Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, R. D. Burman, Geeta Dutt, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Bappi Lahiri, The Beatles, ABBA, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Tina Turner, Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, and more. Backed by a live band, these familiar songs are reimagined through folk, pop, rock, Latin fusion, jazz, and world music, creating fresh arrangements while staying true to the spirit of the originals.
