About The Event

Sangamam was created out of the passion of the Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiatives (SFPI) to promote Indian classical music, dance and folk traditions, bringing them closer to audiences who wish to reconnect with the depth and beauty of our cultural heritage through meaningful artistic experiences.

In this edition, Sangamam presents Āvartanam – The Eternal Cycle of Srishti, Sthithi and Pralaya, an immersive presentation from Anvaya – The Connection Series, conceptualised and performed by Ramaa Venugopalan.

Anvaya – meaning connection – explores the interconnectedness of Bharatiya artistic traditions. Through the confluence of Bharatanatyam, Kolam (Rangoli) and Kshetram (sacred temple spaces), the performance reveals how these art forms share a common visual, philosophical and spiritual language.

Drawing from the sacred landscape of the Kanchi Kshetram, the presentation reflects the eternal cosmic cycle of creation, sustenance and dissolution through the three presiding deities. Kamakshi, Ekambreshwarar and Varadaraja.

With over three decades of Bharatanatyam practice and the creation of more than 3000 unique kolams, Ramaa Venugopalan brings together movement, visual design and sacred geography in a seamless narrative.

Through kolam patterns inspired by temple iconography and Bharatanatyam pieces exploring the abstract, the devotional and the philosophical, Āvartanam invites audiences to witness the rhythm of the cosmos , where creation emerges within, desire takes form, and surrender becomes the final return.
