Saint of the Santoor Pt. Bhajan Sopori represents the 300 year old Sufiana Gharana of Kashmir and the first person to play Indian Classical music on the Santoor over six decades ago. He has been awarded the prestigious Padmashri, Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards among many.
Abhay Rustum Sopori is the youngest Santoor maestro and classical musician to compose and conduct orchestras at folk & Sufi ensembles. His outstanding contribution and achievements in the field of music have won him many awards. He is also the first ever composer & conductor to share the stage and conduct along with the legendary maestro Zubin Mehta
Listeners can look forward to a combination of traditional Indian Classicial Music as per the Sopori - Sufiana Gharana of Kashmir and , the exclusive traditional Santoor family of the country and special characteristic features of Sopori Baaj, the style of Santoor playing created by Pt. Bhajan Sopori and will also feature some of the rare presentations of the Sufi tradition.
