A Celebration of Feminine Spirit and Resilience
Join us for a mesmerizing 90-minute double bill performance featuring two extraordinary women
from distinct eras, brought to life through dance and storytelling.
The evening opens with Mahadeviyakka – An Undefined Fragrance, a tribute to the 12th-century
Veerashaiva saint Akka Mahadevi. Known for her fearless devotion to Lord Shiva, Akka Mahadevi
defied societal norms, embodying spiritual freedom and intense love for the divine. Through her
evocative vachanas, this performance explores the multifaceted journey of Bhakti and the timeless
essence of her soul.
The second half, Bahinabai Chaudhari: An Illiterate Genius, honors the legacy of Bahinabai, a
celebrated Marathi poet. Her abhangas beautifully capture the struggles, resilience, and wisdom of
rural women. Divided into four poignant dance pieces, it delves into themes of nurturing, renewal,
mental strength, and acceptance, portraying Bahinabai’s profound connection to life’s cycles and the
indomitable spirit of womanhood.
Together, these performances promise an unforgettable evening of artistry, devotion, and
empowerment.
