SIMEON
An Indo-European Dance Ensemble.
SIMEON is a contemporary dance performance from the Netherlands, choreographed by Kalpana Raghuraman, performed with live music by Matangi String Quartet with the work of well-known Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt. A diptych based on Ten Holts famous works Canto Ostinato and Lemniscaat, in which Kalpana addresses `the individual` and `the group` and the pressure of daily life. Musicians and dancers work together and create a new perspective on the dance and on the work of Ten Holt.
"The longer you listen to the music of Simeon ten Holt, the more you hear. The minimalist music creates a universe of different layers and details. This also applies to dance: the more you let the movements and emotions come to you, the more you experience. I draw this line to everyday life. The more aware you look at your own life, the more you see and the easier you can move to change. Raising awareness is the key, as a kaleidoscope that reveals itself."
