Music and dance are the universal language that transcends boundaries and connects people from all walks of life. It has the power to evoke emotions, tell stories, and create unforgettable moments.
To celebrate and promote our culture and heritage, SparshNinaad Foundation takes the opportunity to introduce a jugalbandi concert of music and dance. The evening will showcase a jugalbandi of Tagore melodies and Hindustani ragas for music, and two popular classical forms of dance, Bharatnatyam and Kathak as a jugalbandi. This blend of dance and music aims to create a unique and enriching experience for the audience.
Classically Tagore is a duet concert that showcases two brilliant, celebrated artists: Jayati Chakravarty (vocal) and Pt. Prattyush Banerjee (sarod). Alongside the songs, the sarod plays a major role as a solo instrument, delineating the song-ragas through compositions and improvisations.
As a music composer, Rabindranath Tagore was greatly influenced by the mysteries of Indian ragas. The impact is apparent in many of his songs, where one discovers unique raga phrases and note progressions, sometimes unheard of in our rich classical music tradition. It is somewhat surprising that the treasures of classical tunes hidden in Tagore's music have remained largely unexplored for decades.
The artists for the dance jugalbandi are the immensely talented and popular Kirti Ramagopal (Bharatnatyam) and Sweekruth BS (Kathak).
