Kotak Private presents Strings & Wind , a celebration of two of the most evocative elements of Indian classical music, the plucked string and the flowing breath. It brings together two maestros whose artistry transcends time and genre: Ustad Shujaat Khan, renowned for his soulful sitar renditions and profound explorations of Sufi music; and Pandit Rakesh Chaurasia, a two-time Grammy Award-winning flautist whose mastery of the bansuri evokes both technical brilliance and emotional depth.
This immersive evening bridges the ancient and the eternal, from the intricate ragas of Hindustani classical music to the meditative alaaps and powerful jugalbandis. The string symbolizes devotion, introspection, and lyrical storytelling through the sitar and voice. The wind, expressed through the bamboo flute, evokes the formless, the elemental, and the divine breath of sound. Together, the two elements will converse, converge, and rise, creating a sonic journey that stirs both heart and soul. While Ustad Shujaat Khan will be accompanied by Amit Choubey and Sapan Anjaria on tabla, Pt. Rakesh Chaurasia will be ably supported by Ojas Adhiya on tabla and Sanjoy Das on guitar.
