Witness Shubhankar Kulkarni and his band premiere their original music alongside the beloved songs and medleys that have become their signature.
Bringing together young musicians from across India, ‘Tale of Melodies’ is a live celebration of music across languages, genres and generations. Across three years and more than 45 performances, the band has built a loyal following with a repertoire spanning the 1950s to the present, moving from the golden age of Indian and international music to contemporary favourites through distinctive arrangements and dynamic live performances.
Led by vocalist Shubhankar Kulkarni, the show unfolds across three musical phases, journeying from the black-and-white era with icons such as Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Hridaynathji Mangeshkar and Hemant Kumar, through the music of the 1980s and 1990s, including R.D. Burman and Bryan Adams, to modern musical voices such as Taylor Swift.
Along the way, this edition marks a new chapter with the live premiere of the band's original compositions. Written by Shubhankar and composed collectively by the musicians, the new work grows out of years of performing and experimenting together, revealing a soundscape that continues to evolve.
Shubhankar is joined by Jay Suryavanshi on keys, Kaunteya Jambotkar on lead guitar, Niraj Pandit on bass guitar and Pratik Nandre on drums. Conceptualised and directed by Dr Saleel Kulkarni, with Ashwin Ranade as Technical Director and Creative Producer, ‘Tale of Melodies’ brings together the music that has shaped generations with a fresh perspective from a new generation of musicians. The show is co-produced and executed by Wide Wings Media.
