Be mesmerised by sisters Ragini & Nandini Shankar, Indian classical violinists blending raga-based music with contemporary rhythms & modern production.
Carried by the sound of two violins in constant dialogue, this performance celebrates life through music, shaped by the shared language of sisters Ragini Shankar and Nandini Shankar. Rooted in Indian classical tradition, their music blends raga-based melodic structures with contemporary production, brought alive through virtuosic interplay and ensemble-driven energy.
Trained from the age of three under their grandmother, Padma Bhushan Dr. N. Rajam, and their mother, Dr. Sangeeta Shankar, the sisters represent eight generations of musicians within an illustrious lineage of Indian classical violinists. While each pursues an independent solo career, this collaboration brings them together in a shared exploration of tradition and progression.
Drawing from their 2023 debut album ‘Taraana’, the repertoire presents an intimate view of Indian classical music shaped by a modern sensibility.
The performance combines virtuosic violin-led compositions- rooted in classical depth yet infused with modern rhythm and production.
