About The Event
With fifty years of music between them, the Kedia Brothers celebrate their enduring partnership through a rare sitar-sarod dialogue, accompanied by renowned tabla maestro Pt. Anindo Chatterjee.
Marking five decades of shared music, ‘The Golden Duet’ brings together Pt. Mor Mukut Kedia on sitar and Pt. Manoj Kedia on sarod, with Pt. Anindo Chatterjee on tabla. Torchbearers of the musical traditions of Guruma Annapurna Devi and Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, the brothers have built a distinctive legacy since their first duet concert in 1975. Over the years, they have shared the stage with legendary tabla maestros including Pt. Kishan Maharaj, Ustad Zakir Hussain and Pt. Samta Prasad.
The performance explores the depth and beauty of Hindustani ragas through alap, jod, jhala and rhythmic improvisation. Melodic elaboration and intricate taans bring the contrasting timbres of sitar and sarod into dialogue, enriched by Chatterjee’s dynamic tabla accompaniment. This Golden Jubilee concert celebrates the brothers’ exceptional artistry and the musical lineage that has shaped their journey together.
This performance is supported by Reliance Foundation.
