We would be presenting Tulaja Bhavani Charite — a Bharatanatyam production inspired by the revered Kuladevi (family deity) of the Maratha Empire. Tulaja Bhavani Charite, written by Sri Ananthadri Ananthacharya, one of the pioneers of the Haridasa tradition, narrates the powerful story of Goddess Amba who resides as Tulaja Bhavani in Tuljapur.
Amba, the fierce protector, destroys evil, guides Srirama toward Lanka, and ultimately becomes the divine force to whom all paths surrender — culminating in the traditional Gondhal ritual. This production draws deeply from the spiritual and cultural legacy of the Tulja Bhavani temple in Maharashtra, one of the 51 sacred Shakti Peethas, where the goddess has long been venerated by devotees and warriors alike, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Through expressive abhinaya, intricate choreography, and evocative musical compositions, Tulaja Bhavani Charite celebrates the Devi as a symbol of strength, resilience, and unwavering devotion. It is a tribute to her divine grace and the enduring spirit of feminine power.
