About The Event

AN EVENING FILLED WITH JOY, BENEATH THE OPEN SKY, UNDER THE PEEPAL TREE

Each moment spent with our children is priceless. The most cherished memories unfold when we dedicate quality time, free from distractions, engaging in activities that bring them delight, fostering a reciprocal learning experience. Experience an evening brimming with joy beneath the expansive open sky, sheltered by the welcoming peepal tree.

The UNDER THE PEEPAL TREE Dad-Child Festival is a space dedicated to fathers, offering respite from their daily busyness to immerse themselves in their children`s world. It`s a unique space where you share your experiences on India’s rich folk and artistic heritage, while they guide you through child-centric activities.

Picture yourself galloping together in the hobby-horsing arena, sprawling in the wide lawns side by side watching captivating Kaavad Katha performance. Imagine clapping to the beats as folk artists perform a traditional dance, and laughing in joy as Kacchi Ghodi dancers walk amidst the crowd. See yourself and your child sitting under the open sky, engaged in block printing and handcrafting a souvenir, painting a scenery together inspired by an Indian classical raga, while the soft breeze from the sea enhances the experience.

Beyond the tangible crafts you create and the joy of experiencing Rajasthani folk art in a child-friendly setup, this season`s focus on Rajasthan ensures a profound appreciation for India`s cultural tapestry among children, fostering a sense of ethnic pride. The shared memories forged on December 23 at NCPA`s open-air gardens become an enduring source of conversation and laughter in the years to come.

Mark your calendars for a heartwarming evening of cultural exploration, familial connection, and shared creativity.

FESTIVAL WALK-THROUGH

Registration and Welcome

As you enter the gates of the NCPA, a warm embrace of festive energy envelops you, accompanied by the radiant smiles of the organizers. Swiftly navigating through the post-registration formalities, your child is handed an intricately designed activity kit, a treasure trove containing all the art-craft supplies essential for the upcoming creative endeavours.

Opening Ceremony (4:00 – 4:10 PM)

The grandeur of the festival unfolds at the Experiential Garden during the Opening Ceremony. Festival organizers take the stage to share their insights, thoughts, and the carefully curated flow of the evening. This session is not just a formality; it is a key guide, ensuring that each attendee is equipped to navigate the festival seamlessly and engage with the array of activities effectively.

Rajasthani Handicraft Workshops (4:10 – 5:30 PM)

Immediately following the opening ceremony, the heart of creativity beats in the Rajasthani Handicraft Workshops. Children, accompanied by their fathers, embark on a journey of artistic expression. Two exquisite items, a block-printed bag, and a Rajasthani cloth bird trinket, come to life under the guidance of skilled facilitators, turning this into a memorable bonding experience.

Hobby Horsing (4:10 – 6:00 PM)

Simultaneously, the festival grounds resonate with the echoes of royal sports in the Hobby Horsing session. Participants enthusiastically engage in a dynamic simulation, mirroring the regal sports of Rajasthan. This involves gymnastic elements using stick horses, where movement sequences resembling show jumping or dressage are simulated in courses without real horses. It adds a touch of regality to the festival, showcasing creativity and adaptability in celebrating traditional sports in an accessible manner.

Kaavad Katha: Unfolding Tales (5:40 PM)

As the sun begins its descent, the enchanting realm of Kaavad Katha comes to life. Renowned storyteller Akshay Gandhi takes centre stage, skilfully weaving captivating tales using the magical Kaavad box. In this mystical journey, the audience is transported into the heart of Rajasthani culture, history, and folklore. Kaavad, a unique form of traditional Indian storytelling in the region, involves the kaavadiya (storyteller) using a wooden structure to unfold intricate narratives. This immersive experience lets attendees witness storytelling artistry and dive into the rich tapestry of Rajasthani heritage, creating a connection that transcends time and space.

Ragamala: Art and Melody Fusion (6:00 – 6:45 PM)

The evening gracefully transitions into a fusion of art and melody with Ragamala. Children immerse themselves in the basics of Hindustani classical music. Through a musical sit-down game, they explore the nuances of mood, season, and day, translating this newfound understanding into vibrant paintings.

Kacchhi Godhi Dancers (6:45 PM)

The festival takes a colourful turn as the Kaachi Godhi dancers gracefully navigate through the crowd. Their lively performance injects a burst of energy and visual delight into the festival atmosphere.

Closing Ceremony

To bring the festivities to a close, a traditional Rajasthani dance takes the stage, providing a fitting end to a day filled with creativity, culture, and connection. The Closing Ceremony, though short, leaves a lasting impression, ensuring that the echoes of the festival linger in the hearts of attendees long after they leave the NCPA grounds.
