About The Event
Through rasa, ritu, and bhakti, Swar Sharma brings monsoon’s many moods to life through rare ragas of Malhar and the luminous devotional tradition of Haveli Sangeet.
Witness ‘Unheard Ragas of Malhar’, a Hindustani classical presentation led by Swar Sharma, a seventh-generation vocalist of the illustrious Mewati Gharana. Drawing on generations of musical tradition and a nuanced command of raag and bhava, he brings seldom-heard rain-based ragas to life that evoke the many emotional shades of the Indian monsoon, from longing and romance to serenity and renewal. The concert then moves seamlessly into the temple-rooted intimacy of Haveli Sangeet, where lyrical devotion and melodic richness create a quiet, contemplative expression of bhakti.
Accompanied by Pt. Aditya Kalyanpur on tabla, Shikharnaad Qureshi on djembe, Sandeep Mishra on sarangi, and Omkar Agnihotri on harmonium, the performance draws on the depth of tradition and the freshness of a young classical voice to create an experience that is both rooted and resonant.
Having performed at festivals and venues across India and abroad, Sharma brings depth, clarity, and a profound respect for tradition to the stage, inviting listeners into the emotional and spiritual world of Hindustani classical music.
This performance is supported by the Reliance Foundation.
