About The Event
Workshop Overview:
Immerse yourself in the rhythm, movement and cultural heritage of Garba in this three-day intensive workshop by Vaarso. The workshop introduces participants to traditional Garba steps, rhythmic patterns, hand and foot movements, formations and expressive elements.
Progressing from foundational techniques to more intricate combinations, participants will develop coordination, confidence and stamina while gaining an understanding of the collective spirit at the heart of Garba.
This workshop will offer an opportunity to learn, practise and experience Garba as a living and evolving folk tradition.
About the Facilitators:
Vaarso, founded by Ahmedabad-based artists Isha Vora and Jiya Pandya, grew from a shared interest in bringing people closer to traditional Garba and its cultural roots. What began as an initiative driven by their love for the art form has evolved into an effort to preserve and pass on this heritage to future generations. Through their work, they have been conducting workshops exclusively across Gujarat.
Through curated workshops and Garba experiences, Vaarso explores traditional steps, rhythms, music and the spirit of the dance, offering participants an opportunity to engage with Garba beyond choreography and connect with its cultural heritage.
