Voice of the River Brahmaputra
Songs Sung by Sudhakantha Bhupen Hazarika
Some voices do more than sing. They carry the soul of a land, its rivers, people, struggles and dreams.
This September, MusicOasis celebrates the extraordinary musical legacy of Bhupen Hazarika - the legendary singer, composer, lyricist and filmmaker whose powerful voice became inseparable from the cultural identity of Assam and the mighty Brahmaputra.
Born on 8 September 1926, Bhupen Hazarika would have turned 100 in 2026. To mark his Centenary Birth Anniversary, MusicOasis presents "Voice of the River Brahmaputra" on 14 September - an intimate musical journey through some of the songs that made Sudhakantha ("the golden-throated one") unforgettable.
From the tenderness of human relationships to the dignity of ordinary people, from love and longing to social consciousness and the timely majesty of the Brahmaputra, Hazarika's music speaks in a language that transcends geography.
Come listen to the voice that transformed a river into poetry, music into a people's story, and a regional tradition into something universal.
A MusicOasis GraTribute to Bhupen Hazarika - 100 years of a voice that still flows.
14 September, MusicOasis
Experience the River. Hear the Voice. Feel the Soul.
