About The Event

We bring you `Kaaya aur Kabir` by Sanjukta Wagh, as part of the Yati Gati series. A three-hour workshop that is a sonic and somatic embodiment of Kabir. Entering the word and embodying the philosophy through breath-led melody, rhythm and movement, the workshop offers a meditative inquiry for participants.

Sanjukta Wagh has been immersed in the world of Kabir and Bhakti poets across languages for over two decades. Fascinated by the exploration of the paradox of Nirgun in dance, her quest has been to find ways and tools of embodiment in the present moment through metaphors from Kabir`s verse.

This workshop will be equally relevant and accessible for dancers and non-dancers. With Holi round the corner, the workshop will finish with Kabir`s philosophy on colour.

About the workshop:

The workshop draws from varied sources like choreological studies, improvisation as a studio based practice, Kathak, contemporary technique, Navarasa sadhana, Hindustani music, yoga and voice movement therapy to give participants insights into body , space and sound and basic elements of improvisation and play.

About Sanjukta Wagh:

Sanjukta Wagh has been immersed in the world of Kabir and Bhakti poets across languages for over two decades. Fascinated by the exploration of the paradox of Nirgun in dance, her quest has been to find ways and tools of embodiment in the present moment through metaphors from Kabir`s verse. This has led to three collaborative performances with Kabir with three very diverse approaches to text: Akatha Katha, Bheetar Baahar and Jheeni. She is inspired by Kumar Gandharva`s approach to Kabir, Prahlad Tipanniya and has been an an active member of the Kabir festival Mumbai which is dynamic mix of seekers and changemakers: artistes scholars, listeners and spectators across India.
