Fernando Velazquez is an accomplished cello player who has composed soundtracks for movies like Devil, The Orphanage, The Backwoods, and Savage Grace. He was selected by Bilbao Symphony Orchestra to compose symphonies for them in 2010. His score for Devil was rated as one of the best scores of the year in 2010. His accolades include a win in the Cinema Writers Circle Awards, Spain for The Orphanage. He also bagged an award in the International Film Music Critics Association Awards for Film Music Composition of the Year for The Impossible, along with numerous nominations. He also won the Spanish Music Award for his score in The Orphanage. In addition to this, he composed the soundtrack of the Guillermo del Toro production Mama (2013) and Mount & Blade before employing his genius for Marrowbone.
