Known for portraying supporting roles in Tamil movies, Jagan Purushottam made his debut in 2005 with the romantic comedy Kanda Naal Mudhal. Following his debut, he went on to feature in movies such as Ponniyin Selvan, Idhaya Thirudan, Vallavan, Satham Podathey, Oram Po, and Pori, however, his breakthrough came with the 2009 movie Ayan, where he was seen playing a small-time smuggler. Jagan also hosted a television show titled Kadavul Paadhi Mirugam Paadhi, where he reviewed movies, not holding back on the criticism. Owing to the harsh criticism, the show was pulled off-air. Among his other movie credits are Nil Gavani Sellathey (2010), Ko (2011), Karuppampatti (2013), Venmegam (2014), Iravum Pagalum Varum (2015), Manal Kayiru 2 (2016), Kavan (2017) and Operation Jujupi (2021).
