Utpal Dutt was an Indian film actor, writer and screenwriter who predominantly worked in the Hindi and Bengali film industry. He made his debut as an actor with the film Michael Madhusudan (1950) and directed movies like Megh (1961), Jhar (1978), and Mother (1984). Dutt won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor In Comic Role for Movie
Gol Maal (1979) and Naram Garam (1982). He further appeared in films like
Barsaat Ki Ek Raat (1982), Kissi Se Na Kehna (1983), John Jani Janardhan (1984) and Saaheb (1986). Utpal Dutt passed away in August 1993.
