About The Event
The play revolves around four performers of different ages and portfolios-a filmy singer, a pop singer, a nautanki wali bai ji and a classical singer. They are caught in a strange situation as their programme stands to first be postponed or cancelled or curtailed or revised as per the organisers demand. As they wait for their turns to perform, they start sharing stories about their resistance and fight for freedom. The play becomes a beautiful tapestry of various vignettes set to delightful anecdotes laced with music and dance while we see the conflicts emerge between the artists themselves about their styles, their statuses, their romances and their jealousies. The moving set panels create a dramatic dynamism as they take us in and out of time capsules of pre independent India and back to the present.
