Synopsis: In this brew of three short stories from the heart of Bijnor, we listen to the storyteller reminisce about his little village. We find multitudes of layers beneath their relatively simple lives that we celebrate, laugh at, rue, and smile over.
Hawa is the story of a newlywed bride, the new talk of the town for all the bizarre reasons. But she is desperate to deflate this endless gossip and has found a way - only time will tell how effective it is.
The whole town is chicken in front of the infamous Fakko Ka Murga, whose deadly peck is what everybody`s running from. Little did Fakko know that this winged friend, the only companion of her solitary life, would drive her to distress.
In Totaa Udd, Maina Udd, when the youngest of three daughters is sent to her sister`s in-laws after her wedding day, she sees, hears, and feels things she is too innocent to understand. Her reactions are naive, but her instincts are in the right place.
A look beyond their stories shows there's more - unsaid desires, unheard voices that never dared to jump out, muffled by tolerance, conditioning, and lack of opportunity.
About Afsana Theatre:
Afsana Theatre is an experimental theatre group based in Mumbai, dedicated to exploring uncharted literature and bringing universal stories to the stage. Our work draws from diverse languages and cultures across the globe, grounded in the belief that stories have the power to unite people, ideas, and perspectives. Every narrative we choose reveals character, philosophy, and wisdom. This journey is endless, and we are here to discover more.
Although a relatively young theatre collective, we have quickly established a strong presence in the urban theatre circuit, having successfully staged plays like 'Phislan' (Prithvi Theatre Festival, Fringe-2019), 'Kutta Aurat Aadmi' (Prithvi Theatre Festival, Fringe-2022, Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival, 2023), 'Janpad Bijnor' (Serendipity Arts Festival, Goa-2023), 'A Life in the Theatre' and the latest 'Kya Hi Farq Padta Hai' (Prithvi Festival, Fringe 2025).
