About The Event
Set in the year 1947, Kaali Shalwar is the story of Sultana, an eighteen year old prostitute who along with his pimp and lover, Khudabaksh, comes to Old Delhi’s red light area post partition.
Soon she meets Shankar, a young enigmatic man in his mid 20’s and a local of the area. Gradually she falls for his unapologetic ways and an undeniable charm.
Mukhtar, the most beautiful dancer of the area in her late 20’s who is known to always choose men over money, has been in an unrequited love with Shankar since she has known him.
Amidst this, Muharram is about to come and everybody is preparing their dresses for the occasion when Sultana asks Shankar to bring her a black Shalwar to complete her attire.
