The Legend of Ram is the latest broadway-style theatrical extravaganza by theatre doyen Atul Satya Koushik, who has already given plays like “Chakravyuh”, “Ballygunge 1990”, “Pajama Party” and “Raavan Ki Ramayan”.
This plays marks the come-back of Arun Govil as Ram, who lived the iconic character in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana many years ago.
The play presents some important episodes from the life of Ram, who began as a promising young prince and reached the status of being called Vishnu of his times. The teachings from warrior-turned-sage Vishvamitra, experiences with iconic women like Tadika and Ahalya, the epic love story with the legendary princess Sita and arch rivalry with the demon king Raavan make Ram’s story worthy of being told a thousand times. The play is presented in an immaculate juxtaposition of verses with prose form.
A broadway-style presentation with dance troupes taking turns to present mesmerizing dance sequences of various forms, breathtaking fight sequences, spectacular sets and costumes, stellar star cast and exhilarating music scores make this production a worth watch.
