Have you been a caregiver at some point in your life or been looked after by one? Or have you seen someone close to you be a caregiver - putting their own lives on hold to care for someone (could be a spouse, partner, parent, child, friend, relative). How often have we heard the stories of caregivers – stories of hope, of stress, of grief, of challenges, of triumphs, of deep frustration and immense satisfaction?
First Drop Theatre presents, 'Care-Tharsis...Through the Eyes of Caregivers', a Playback theatre show where we invite you to come and share your own 'caregiver' stories where you have been a caregiver or you have been cared for, or hear the stories that others share, and watch them being performed, on-the-spot, in the format of Playback Theatre.
Playback Theatre is an interactive theatre format where people, from the audience, share their personal stories and a group of actors improvises on-the-spot. The stories are based on real-life events that happened to the teller, either from a long time ago or something that happened recently. The playback team consists of actors and a conductor. The teller tells his/her story and watches the story or part of it enacted on-the-spot by the actors. The stories and thoughts would cover a range of emotions and genres. The actors use their creativity and skill, to present an engaging and dramatized retelling of the audience member's story.
