Translated from Manoj Mitra's Rajdarshan, this is a tale of the divine, the absurd and the divinely absurd with elements of satire, comedy and tragedy. The last king of the Nanda dynasty is on his deathbed overcome by a seemingly incurable disease. As forces within the royal court conspire to lay claim to the soon to be abandonned throne and the winds of revolution blow in various parts of the land, a certain Demigod harbours a special kind of dislike for the tyrannous, alcoholic, womanizing ruler who at this point is all but dead. In a desperate attempt, it is announced that gems, jewels and other alms will be offered to Brahmins in exchange for their prayers for the King's health on the day of the next new moon. Upon hearing this, Lambodar Bhatta, a squalling Brahmin from a distant village of the kingdom embarks on a journey to the capital in a quest for riches, on the back of his rather unwilling but helpless Godson, Abhiram. As they reach the capital, certain events unfold which would go on to rewrite history.
