About The Event
Srijon is an Institute in Mumbai dedicated to continue the legacy of Gurudev RabindraNath Tagore. The Institute marks its 15th Foundation year with a performance of Tagore’s Dance Drama ‘Chandalika ‘, which will be performed by Kamalika Guha Thakurta.
In this play Tagore highlights the harsh realities of caste discrimination, particularly focusing on the life of the protagonist, Prakriti, a lower-caste woman and her mother Maya. It critiques the rigid social hierarchies that perpetuate inequality and suffering.
Sutapa Bandopadhyay will present a Solo recital of Rabindra Sangeet, followed by ‘Shokol Rosh- er Dhara’ a choral presentation of Tagore’s songs.
