About The Event
Synopsis:
Set in the coastal villages of Kerala, Chevittorma traces the impact of tidal flooding intensified by climate change on a community and its relationship with place. Live performance and video projections bring together fragments of human history, festivals, memories and cherished possessions, alongside the changing landscape. As the waters advance, the community confronts isolation, loss and the Sisyphean labour of clearing debris that returns with every flood. Yet amidst this recurring cycle, people continue to gather, remember and rebuild. Chevittorma is an exploration of resilience, belonging and the fragile relationship between a community and the environment it calls home.
