About The Event
Saitan Theatre Group is back with their new stage production "Clowns of Hamlet", a tragedy that dares to laugh.
An Indian theatre ensemble is working in Japan for last 4 years, staging tragedies that blend Japanese cultural aesthetics and theatrical discipline with an Indian understanding of performance and storytelling.
The play opens with the ensemble in the midst of performing Shakespeare’s Hamlet for the past five months, now approaching the final leg of their run. As the production nears its end, an inevitable question arises: What comes next? Another tragedy, or something entirely new?
Gradually, the tragedy on stage begins to mirror the lives of the performers themselves. Questions of purpose, loyalty, loss, and the cost of ambition surface within the group, the ensemble explores how dreams survive responsibility, how hope resists failure, and how tragedy becomes a shared human language. The play transforms the journey of this ensemble into a living rehearsal of life itself where to dream is necessary, to hope is risky, and to act is inevitable
