DEV DIVYA AUR DUNIYA
Hindi Drama | Musical | LGBTQIA+ | 75 Minutes | 18+
What if the love of your life arrived before you were ready to become yourself?
Some stories ask to be watched. Others ask to be lived. Originally written in English Dev Divya Aur Duniya finds a powerful new voice in Hindi through the creative vision of Sudheer Rikhari, Saransh Bhatt and Rahul Ramaali, as it explodes on the stage with live music, mime and haunting melodies.
A chance conversation between two colleagues becomes the beginning of an unexpected relationship. Dev is only beginning to discover who he is. Divya has already travelled that difficult road. As love deepens into longing, fear and impossible choices, they discover that the greatest distance between two people is not always created by the world outside, but by the different moments at which they find the courage to embrace themselves.
Moving effortlessly between offices, cafés, beaches and city streets, Dev Divya Aur Duniya transforms the familiar into the unforgettable. Funny, intimate, aching and deeply humane, it is a play that invites audiences into a world rarely seen on the Indian stage, only to reveal that its questions belong to all of us.
The play has been written by Mrinal Mathur, one of India's most prolific contemporary playwrights, whose acclaimed oeuvre of original plays has travelled across India and overseas, inviting audiences to question history, challenge assumptions and discover their own truths.
It has been designed and directed by Sudheer Rikhari, one of India's most accomplished theatre-makers, whose work over decades has been celebrated for its emotional depth, visual imagination and uncompromising honesty. Developed by The Trialogue Company, renowned for productions such as Tansen, Meera: Beyond Devotion, Jaan-e-Ghazal, Khayal-e-Ghalib and Ram: Shravan Manan, which has established itself as one of Delhi's most distinctive contemporary performing arts collectives, celebrated for its fusion of theatre, music and movement.
Whether you come as an ally, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, with family, with friends, or simply in search of extraordinary theatre, this is an evening that will leave you moved, challenged and quietly transformed.
Come for Dev and Divya. Experience Duniya. Leave with a story that quietly changes the way you see love, identity and yourself.
