About The Event

Synopsis

The play is written and directed by Ms. Kajal Suri. It begins with the arrival of a newly married couple, Vikram and Sarita, in a beautiful mountain forest. There, they come across two mysterious memorials. The elderly Rani Thakurain, who lives near them, is astonished to see the couple because she believes that Vikram and Sarita are the reincarnations of Vinod and her daughter Rachna from a previous life.

The story then moves into a flashback, taking the audience 26 years into the past. A young and honest Forest Officer, Vinod, is posted to the region, where illegal deforestation and the hunting of wild animals are carried out under the influence of Rani Thakurain. Vinod stands firmly against her activities in order to protect the law, the environment, and wildlife.

During this time, he meets his former university friend Rachna, who is Rani Thakurain’s daughter. Vinod’s passion and commitment to nature and environmental conservation deeply influence Rachna. The two fall in love and become partners in the mission to save the forests.

Vinod educates the villagers about the importance of forests and environmental conservation. Gradually, the villagers begin to oppose Rani Thakurain’s illegal activities. Rachna also chooses to stand for truth and environmental protection, even against her own parent.

Blinded by greed and arrogance, Rani Thakurain continues her efforts to destroy the forest. One night, when her workers arrive to cut down the trees, Vinod, Rachna, and the villagers embrace the trees in an attempt to protect them. Following Rani Thakurain’s orders, axes are swung, and Vinod and Rachna become the victims. Even in their final moments, they spread the message of protecting nature and vow to continue serving and safeguarding the forests in every future life.

Their sacrifice awakens Rani Thakurain’s conscience. Overcome with guilt and remorse, she dedicates herself to protecting the forest and prevents a single tree from being cut down for many years. In the present day, after recounting her story, she peacefully passes away.

The play conveys a powerful message: “Trees are Life.” It reminds us that environmental conservation is not merely a social responsibility but a matter of survival for future generations.
