Hodi
This is the story of a young boy from a village small near Tuljapur in Maharashtra. His journey spans his simple life as a child in the village, to his migration to the city to earn a livelihood, to his stay as an eminent writer's Man-Friday. This solo performance unfolds through the transitions in his life, the different people that he accosts and the situations that he faces.
There is a class of people who are born in villages where they face the lack of basic facilities, education and means of livelihood. The city life portrayed in various media seems very attractive and desirable to them. In such a condition, when somebody has to uproot himself and move to the city only to earn a living, his existence is transformed in a rather dramatic way. Hodi depicts this transformation.
The protagonist, Manoj, while facing new experiences in the city, constantly connects them to his past life back home. Thus he cannot completely disengage from his past. He has no complaints living a life that swings back and forth emotionally between his past and present. However one incident shakes Manoj to the core. All the struggles so far seem futile. He cannot see the way forward.
He shares his journey with the audience all the while struggling with his questions. Also, finally he has come to understand that he too has a voice, an opinion, something to say.
